What kind of performance can I expect from Vista?
The performance of Windows Vista on your Motion Tablet PC will depend on your system configuration, including the amount of installed memory and the available hard disk space. You may have better performance compared to Windows XP if your system includes at least 1GB of memory and adequate disk space. Your experience may depend on the actual applications used.

What are the Hardware Requirements for the Vista Capable logo?
Windows Vista Capable PCs need to pass the current certification requirements for Designed for Windows XP logo. In addition, these PCs need the following combination of essential PC hardware for good overall Windows Vista performance:
• CPU – PC systems should have a modern CPU (at least 800MHz)
• RAM – PC systems should have 512 MB of system memory or more
• GPU – PC systems should have a DirectX 9 class graphics processor
A Tablet PC with this configuration will run the core experiences of Windows Vista such as innovations in organizing and finding information, security and reliability. All Motion Computing LE1700, C5, F5, LS800 and LE1600 models with at least 512MB of memory meet or exceed these specifications. Motion recommends at least 1 GB of memory for the best Vista experience. Motion Tablet PCs require qualified memory for proper performance. Some features available in premium editions of Windows Vista – like the new Windows Aero user interface – require advanced or additional hardware. The C5, F5, LE1600 and LS800 cannot be upgraded to meet this specification. Check www.windowsvista.com/getready for details.
Upgrading to Vista:
> Can I install Windows Vista on any Motion Computing Tablet PC?
Motion Computing supports the Vista operating system for all LE1700, C5, F5, LE1600 and LS800 models. Although the M1400 may meet Microsoft’s minimum hardware requirements, Motion does not recommend or support upgrading the M1400 to Vista. The M1200 and M1300 do not meet Microsoft’s hardware requirements and cannot be upgraded to Vista.
> Will all the Windows Vista versions work on my Tablet PC?
Motion Computing recommends the Business, Enterprise, Home Premium or Ultimate Vista SKUs. Vista Home Basic is not compatible with Tablet PCs because it does not include key tablet features.
> How much memory do I need to upgrade to Vista?
Motion recommends at least 1 GB of memory for the best Vista experience. Motion Tablet PCs require qualified memory for proper performance. Please contact Motion for qualified memory upgrade pricing and more information.
> How do I add memory, upgrade my hard drive or purchase a DVD drive for my Tablet PC?

> Can I continue to purchase Windows XP Tablet PCs from Motion Computing?
Yes, Motion Computing will continue to offer Tablet PCs with Windows XP Tablet Edition.
> How do I install the Vista upgrade?

> How much space do I need to have free on my hard drive?
In order to complete the upgrade process, you will need to have 15 GB of hard disk drive space available.
> Approximately how long does the install take?
Pre Upgrade Setup - 30 minutes to 1 hour (excluding time for Windows Update)
Vista Upgrade - 4 hours unattended run time
Post Upgrade Configuration - 1 hour
> When I upgrade to Vista, will I be able to keep all my personal files from Windows XP?

Yes, Motion will provide support for upgrading your LE1700, C5, F5, LE1600 or LS800. First, read this page to see if your question is answered. Support is not available for the M1200, M1300 or M1400.
> Will all my programs still work after upgrading to Vista?
Not all programs that worked under XP will work under Vista. All Motion installed applications are addressed in Motion’s Vista Upgrade instructions. For user installed applications, please contact the manufacturer of the specific application.
> Will my Motion Dashboard still work after upgrading to Vista?
The initial Vista Motion Dashboard application will have limited functionality. Motion will be releasing free updates to the Dashboard as downloads which will be available on our support site at www.motioncomputing.com/support/driver_download.asp
> Will my OmniPass application still work after upgrading to Vista?
Softex’s OmniPass version 5.0 for Vista is a major release and is available to Motion customers as a downloadable, free 30 day trial at www.motioncomputing.com/support/driver_download.asp
Motion has negotiated a reduced price for our customers for the fully licensed version of OmniPass. In the free downloaded OmniPass application, there is an option to purchase at the lower, negotiated price.
> Will my VirtualDrive application still work after upgrading to Vista?
Farstone’s VirtualDrive 11 for Vista is a major release and is available to Motion customers as a downloadable, free 30 day trial at www.farstone.us/download/oem/motion/VirtualDrive11.exe. Motion has negotiated a greatly reduced price for our customers for the fully licensed version of VirtualDrive 11. In the free downloaded VirtualDrive 11 application, there is an option to purchase at the lower, negotiated price.
